The first week of May brought the AIMS testing for Anthony & Benjamin. They are glad it is over and are now counting down the days to when school is out for summer. (I think about 21 days). Anthony and Benjamin also had a piano recital on the 3rd. It was wonderful and as much as I hear them practice each day, I have to say I was still shocked at their performance. Anthony played Praise to the Man out of the hymn book and did an amazing job. They both played two songs and did awesome.
Chelsey got to bring home 3 caterpillars from preschool which we got to watch go through their lifecycle. It was fun to watch the caterpillars grow and how it goes through the stages. Sunday the 20th, all three butterflies emerged from their chysalis. The kids actually got to see two of them emerge out and then drop to the bottom of the container. We then gathered flowers and grass and decorated the container. We put in apple and banana slices and sprinkled sugar water for them. It was fun and then after a couple of days we opened the container and let them go. (I'm not sure any of them survived, but we tried)
We have more and more ballgames every week. They are fun and I dread them, but at the same time I love them. One Sat. Benjamin enjoyed one hour of his cub scout day camp and then played in his ball game. After that we went to our new sweet tomatoes for lunch. Bad idea (actually it was very good, but kills your energy the rest of the day). We later enjoyed visiting with Wade, Ronnie, and kids, and Mark at Zachery's birthday party. He is sooo cute and just smiled from ear to ear as they all sang happy happy birthday. It was fun.
Chelsey and I enjoyed a fieldtrip to the Fire Station for her preschool. It was at the new one just finished by our house. It was fun, we all enjoyed seeing the "coveted station" (it is very upclass compared to the others and from the firemen we hear the other firefighters at the other stations are quiet jealous) The station has two firepoles in addition they are the only station around to have a slide. Yes, they have two slides next to the firepoles and they use either one to get downstairs superduper fast when there is a call. We also got to see the firemen get dressed completely (all equipment) in under a minute. Pretty amazing they are fast.
For about three months now, Chelsey has been bugging me to teach her how to tie her shoes. (She clasps her hands together in front of her chest, batts her eyelashes, smiles, and says "but mom, I'm bugging you" (She really means "begging" instead of bugging)) My response has always been not now your too young, but she was very persistent in her begging me that I gave in and tried to teach her on Mon. the 28th. Well we did it three times and then she had it down. She is truly amazing, she just learns things really early and really quickly.
Anthony has been competing all year in a competition called "Battle of the Books". The students (5 & 6 graders) form teams of three and then read 4 books. Then there is a competition asking questions on the books and they all take turns answering. They are able to work as a team. The questions equal points. There are three comps through the year and then they tally up the total score between all three comps. Anthony's team came in 2nd in the overall. (They missed only two questions in all three competitions). The top two teams from each school in the district then meet and compete in another competition, but this one covers all 12 books from the year. So on the 30th we attended this competition and watched Anthony and his team compete. They did an excellent job, and only missed one question. But there were 4 teams that got every question right. So they came in 5th. If they would have been in the top three their team would've gone on to compete against the winners from other school districts. Oh well he will try again next year. But we are very excited he made it as far as he did. (This was one of those nights Jeremy gone, Benjamin had a ball game at 5:30 and Anthony needed to be at the competition at 6:00- So to be in two places at once and not to mention it was all at dinner time)
Wed the 16th Jeremy left at 4am to go to the airport. He flew to SLC and did some trainings and work in Utah until Thurs. afternoon. He was able to enjoy a nice dinner at PF Changs with his parents and enjoy visiting with the family Wed night. It was good that he could be able to visit them. He was also able to deliver Julie's Baby Gift to Orem. Although we made her go pick it up. I'm pretty sure she didn't mind too much and I didn't have to pay postage. Jeremy flew home Thurs. night and we were all very glad to have hime back home with us. On the 23rd (Wed) he flew to Colorado (Denver) and worked and flew home Thurs. night. On the 30th (Wed) he flew to Vegas and worked and returned home Thurs. night. He says will be traveling pretty consistently now for about 6 months. I guess it's not too bad, just always seems to be the nights we have the most going on with the kids. But I manage to get everyone where they need to be. When he returned home Thurs. after Vegas, we were to meet with his boss and their wives and a client and his wife for a dinner. We ate at a place called Fishbone Grill. It was good, but not my first choice of places. (Can't complain when your not paying though)
