May 2008

What a beautiful Spring (May) we have had here in sunny, hot Arizona! All though, definetly not as hot as it usually is this time of year. I have to say, I am thankful that we have only had a few days above 100, if we have had any yet. That sure is a blessing in my book.

Busy as a bee can be that's how crazy May's been for me!
(Really US, but Me rhymed better!)

Baseball

Many, many baseball games this month. Benjamin made it to the semi-finals! He hit his first home run in the semi-final game. He assisted in a double play and just really had a great game. They tied this game and then went into a sudden death inning. They won and went on to play the championship game. Now, Benjamin's team "The Angels" are the 1st place champions. Benjamin caught two fly balls in the pitcher position. He recieved a beautiful trophy and really had a lot of fun this year with his team. Sat. the 31st we attended a BBQ to celebrate the season for Benjamin. It was fun.

Anthony continued on till the 30th of May to play baseball. Their tournament started after Memorial day. They won their first game, followed by two losses. They did a good job and Anthony had some great catches in Right Field and scored the winning run for the first tournament game.

School

The kids had a very busy last month of school. I enjoyed going to water day and helping volunteer all day. Chelsey came with me and she had a great time with her brothers & sister playing the water games and going on the water slide, slip n slide, and throwing balls at the dunk tank. They all enjoyed watermelon and popscicles.

Anthony learned a hard lessons about lying & doing your school work this month. He almost received a "C--" in Reading, but due to some good communication from a really great teacher and some willingness to let work be turned in late, he was able to pull straight "A"'s this sememster. He also learned how mad mom can get when something like this happens and how grounding works and isn't very fun. It is kinda an amusing story though if you want details feel free to inquire. For anyone else, let this be a lesson learned-Don't try it!

Preschool

Chelsey had a wonderful promotion from preschool. She said the pledge, sang some cute songs, and recieved her certificate. Then it was off to her water day where she enjoyed going down the waterslide many times.

Swim/Dive Team

This summer I decided to sign Jessika and Anthony up for swim team. Benjamin wanted to be on the dive team. This wasn't to officially start until May 27, but they had a preseason camp the middle of May. That was one of the craziest weeks of my life. One day, I went to the pool 5 seperate times, and inbetween times, I taught a piano lesson, took kids to and from scouts, to and from baseball practice, and home. This was maybe more crazy because, I had to use Jeremy's truck which only had room for three.

This last week they started for real. It has been fun besides getting Anthony to practice at 6:30. But I have been able to get up and walk while he swims for one hour. The rest of the morning I spend taking each child to and from their practice and last is Chelsey's swim lesson.

Sunshine Generation

Yeah, it's finally over for the summer. But we did enjoy two performances in May. One at Schneff Farms and one at the Mesa Convention Center. Thanks to Wade & Ronnijean and family and Adam & Monica & family for coming to watch them.

Memorial Weekend

We were able to escape to St. George for Memorial weekend. It was a great break. We enjoyed hiking to the bridge, tower, and around a new trail they are working on down the hill. We played games, made cookies, visited, and relaxed. The favorite thing was probably holding cute little baby Boston. It was fun to be there for his baby blessing and dinner afterwards. We swam a couple of times. One night swim was probably the warmest. Go Figure! We also enjoyed the cool weather and the rain. We knew returning home would only be for long filled days of hot, hot, hot.

Sundays

I enjoyed a wonderful Mother's Day. I received breakfast in bed and a wonderful tenpanyaki dinner. The kids made wonderful cards, coupons, and gifts. I also got some fun games for the Wii and playstation (yes, that's what I wanted)

Another Sunday, Anthony played in sacrament meeting, the musical number. He played "Praise To The Man". He did a wonderful job and made it through perfectly. I believe I was more nervous than he was. The week before, he also enjoyed playing "We Thank Thee O God For A Prophet" for Senior Primary. This was so they could practice singing as this is one of their songs for the program this year.

Fathers n Sons

The campout was over three hours away. The boys and dad decided not to go, as the price of gas is very high and the time spent was very short. Hopefully they will get on a campout soon now that baseball is over. Instead, they enjoyed going to a movie (Speed Racer) after a ballgame.

Birthdays

Jeremy had a wonderful busy birthday. We made him pancakes for breakfast, Chelsey and I took him to lunch, and then after dance practice, but before Anthony's baseball game we met at Macaroni Grill to celebrate his birthday. We enjoyed a nice dinner and opened presents.

We had a fun time at Isaiah's birthday. They played in the water and with lots and lots of water balloons. We also enjoyed pizza and cupcakes.

Miscellaneous

We enjoyed playing country karaoke and wii smooth moves with Mark and Kacey as they joined us late one Saturday night.

Anthony had a music program. He was so thrilled to be there that we didn't even see him smile not even once.

Jeremy got elected to be on the governing board of our HOA. He attended his first meeting and had his eyes opened as they told him what is what before the meeting with the homeowners.

Benjamin trained to be a green team leader. He will lead groups on field trips next year at the Riperian Preserve.

UPCOMING

I haven't had time nor energy, but I wanted to post some pictures of the kids, events, and a video of the girls performance, super cute, but only time will tell when I get this done. I will email when its posted!

Hope to hear how you all are doing very very soon!

Love, The Holts
